Abstract

The production of happiness hormones directly affects the mood and neutralizes the negative effects of stress, which benefits people's physical and mental health.  As such, the objective of this study focuses on analyzing the influence of happiness hormones on people's mood. To achieve this objective, the applied methodology is based on a quantitative approach, non-experimental design with a descriptive and correlational scope.  The theoretical references are based on the review and analysis of scientific documents published in indexed journals. For data collection, validated and reliable evaluation instruments such as the depression, anxiety and stress scale (DAS) and the PANNAS test were applied to a total of 68 participants between the ages of 15 and 61 from the city of Ambato. It should be noted that, among the main results found, depression stands out: 60.3% of people have not experienced symptoms, while 35.3% have had mild symptoms and 4.4% have had symptoms. moderate, without cases of severe depression. Anxiety is more prevalent, since no participant was free of it. 45.6% experienced mild anxiety, 48.5% moderate, and 5.9% high. Likewise, stress is also common, with all participants reporting some degree of stress 66.2% have experienced mild stress, 30.9% moderate and 2.9% high. On the other hand, with regard to positive and negative affects, the levels are moderate with 47.1% and 44.1% respectively. With this background, it can be concluded in a first scenario that anxiety is a significant problem that affects the majority of the population evaluated, while the prevalence of anxiety and stress suggests that these are critical areas that require intervention and management strategies. For its part, regarding the levels of affect, the need for interventions that promote the increase of positive affects and the reduction of negative affects is suggested to improve the general emotional well-being of the population evaluated.
