Late payment in the cooperative sector: Determinants and characterization of payment behaviour

Cooperatives play a crucial role in financial inclusion, however they face problems of late payment due to psychological factors the payment behavior compromising financial sustainability. This research aims to understand the factors that determine the late payment and payment behavior of partners, considering macroeconomic, institutional, cultural and psychosocial variables. From a theoretical perspective, it integrates attitudes, social norms, institutional trust and perception of control that influence the intention to pay. The methodology that is designed is quantitative with bibliometric analysis and document review, supported by tools such as VOSviewer and Bibliometrix to identify trends, keyword co-occurrences and knowledge nodes. The results reveal determining factors grouped into economic, institutional, psycho-social, cultural and credit categories is mediated by a complex interaction of social and behavioral factors.
