Abstract

In technology-based education environments, gamification and artificial intelligence (AI)-based learning analytics are emerging as complementary strategies for improving the educational experience. Gamification employs game elements to enhance motivation and engagement, while AI-powered learning analytics personalizes content and provides adaptive feedback. This article presents a quasi-experimental study in which an AI-powered gamified educational platform was implemented in a technology course, comparing the results of an experimental and a control group. Student motivation (using the Instructional Materials Motivation Survey - IMMS), academic performance, and active participation were assessed. The results show significant increases in motivation subscales with improvements of up to 36%, a 11% increase in grades, and increased participation (33%). Correlations between post-intervention variables showed positive associations, particularly between participation, and academic performance. These findings highlight the synergy between gamification and AI in creating more engaging and adaptive environments. The adoption of these strategies is recommended to enhance student engagement and success in technology careers
